Before you start using the Internet Fax feature, carefullyread and familiarize yourself with the following precautions:• Internet Fax sends a copy of a document to your e-mailserver, not via the PSTN* as with a traditional fax. The datais then sent from the server to the Internet. Unliketraditional faxing, Internet faxing does not involve a directcommunication with the recipient(s). Transmission isconsidered complete when the sent copy of the documentreaches your e-mail server.• The security level of Internet transmissions is low. Werecommend traditional faxing when sending confidentialdocuments.• Due to heavy line traffic, Internet transmissions may take awhile to arrive.• The configuration of the e-mail server may preventsuccessful transmission if the data size of the sentdocument exceeds set limits.• When you send an Internet fax to multiple recipients, all therecipients’ e-mail addresses are printed if the header pageis set to be printed on the recipients devices. If you need tosecure the personal information, send the Internet faxseparately to each recipient rather than sending to multiplerecipients at the same time.* PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network) is a global telephonesystem capable of communicating worldwide using copper wires totransmit analog data.Viewing Touch Panel for Fax MenuWhen you press the [FAX] button on the control panel, the FAXmenu is displayed on the touch panel.Note• If the equipment is managed by the DepartmentManagement or User Management features, you need toenter a department code or the user information, such asthe user name and password.1) Message Display AreaOperational instructions and the status of the equipmentare displayed.2) [SINGLE] TabOn this tab, you can select individual contacts and variousfunction buttons relevant to Internet faxing operation.3) [GROUP] TabOn this tab, you can select groups of contacts and variousfunction buttons relevant to Internet faxing operation.4) [ADDRESS] TabThis tab contains contacts information saved in theequipment’s address book and displays the information onthe [SINGLE] and the [GROUP] tab.5) [ADVANCED] TabOn this tab, various kinds of advanced functions areavailable for you.
