Especially in the z direction, it helps toposition the focus to the correct position, e.g. in acell membrane.• Click on the xyz-Scan button to open theCountrate scan window (Fig. 343). Click theClose button to close the window.• Position your sample in x, y and z.• Choose the scan you want to perform bypressing either of the X-Y, X-Z, Y-Z, X, Y, andZ buttons. The pressed button with a blueframe indicates the active scan direction.• Define the extent of the scan by using the Start Position (μm) and End position (μm) input boxesor their scroll arrows. You can see the current position in then Current Position (μm) display box.The X, Y and Z directions are indicated above the input boxes.• Define the step size by using the Step Distance (μm) input boxes.• Perform the scan by pressing the Start button from the Countrate scan window.During the scan the count rate is displayed for the selected channels. Dependent on the scan modalitiesthe count rates for the selected channels are plotted in a line plot (x, y and z) (Fig. 344) or frame plot (xy,xz and yz) (Fig. 345).
