CHAPTER 1 - SYSTEM OPERATIONZEISS Left Tool Area and Hardware Control Tools LSM 880280 000000-2071-464 10/2014 V_015.3.21.7 CoincidenceThe coincidence analysis generates a two-dimensional color-coded count rate histogram (Fig. 374) in thisdiagram. During the measurement the count rates in channel 1 (red) and channel 2 (blue) are registeredin small time windows and the respective frequencies are calculated. The count rate in channel 1 is thanplotted versus the count rate in channel 2. All values are incremented in the diagram and count ratesoccurring simultaneously in both channels will populate the diagonal of the diagram. All the table functions in the Coincidence mode are identical to those in the Correlation modeThe Coincidence diagram is currently only a display help and data cannot be exported. There areno options available for the Coincidence diagrams. Coincidences can support analysis in case ofrare event detection of a standard cross-correlation experiment, when the measurement time dropsshort for sufficient statistical significance, because it might be prohibitively long - as a rule ofthumb; approximately 1000 transitions of a labeled species are required to generate a correlationcurve of sufficient quality.Fig. 374 Coincidence diagram panel
