258RS-232C Communication Chapter 1111.1 OverviewCommunication ModeThis is a mode to communicate with the external device using COM1 port on the PV310 via RS-232C. Threecommunication modes descried below are available. Communication contents differ depending on the mode. Selecta proper mode for your communication environment. Even if you choose any mode from the following modes, mostof the provided commands will be valid. The following RS-232C communications that are available by selecting“Output Settings” in the ENVIRONMENT menu > “Data Output Settings” > “General Output” tab.Communication Mode DescriptionSerial (Per Start) This is a 3-wire nonprocedural mode. In this mode, after inspection, the nextsignals are not accepted until communication is complete.Serial (Async.) This is a 3-wire nonprocedural mode. In this mode, after execution of inspection,READY signal is recovered and communication is established while the PV310does not perform image processing operations (while READY signal is ON andthe PV310 is capturing images). READY signal OFF time (Inspection ExecutionTime) is shorter than that for Serial (Per Start). (Refer to page 244 for TimingChart.)Computer Link The PV310 writes inspection results to the specific registers of PLC. Since thePLC automatically sends a response, a program for receiving data at the PLCside is not necessary. You can also switch the product type by referring thenumber stored in the specified register. It supports the particular PLC.See page 283Communication SpecificationsItem SpecificationCommunication Method Full duplexSynchronous Method AsynchronousCommunication Speed 1200, 2400, 4800, 9600, 19200, 38400, 57600, 115200-bit/s (Initial value: 9600)Transmission Code ASCIIBit Length 7-bit, 8-bit (Initial value: 8-bit)Stop Bit 1-bit, 2-bit (Initial value: 1-bit)Parity None/Odd/Even (Initial value: Odd)Flow Control None/Software (Initial value: None)TransmissionFormatDelimiter CRCOM2 port is not available.
