Driving and Operating 8-17Ignition PositionsThe vehicle has an electronickeyless ignition with push‐buttonstart.Pressing the button cycles it throughthree modes, ACC/ACCESSORY,ON/RUN/START and OFF.If the push-button start is notworking, the vehicle may be near astrong radio antenna signal causinginterference to the keyless entrysystem. See Driver InformationCenter (DIC) on page 4‑29 formore information.To shift out of P (Park), the vehiclemust be in ACC/ACCESSORY orON/RUN mode and the brakepedal must be applied.OFF: When this button is pressedwith the engine running, the enginewill be turned off.If the vehicle is in P (Park), theignition will turn OFF, and RetainedAccessory Power (RAP) will remainactive. See Retained AccessoryPower (RAP) on page 8‑18 formore information.If the vehicle is not in P (Park),the ignition will return to ACC/ACCESSORY and display themessage “Shift to Park” in theDriver Information Center (DIC).See Driver Information Center (DIC)on page 4‑29 for more information.When the vehicle is shifted intoP (Park), the ignition system willswitch to OFF.ACC/ACCESSORY: This positionallows you to use some electricalaccessories when the engine is off.With the ignition off, pressing thebutton one time without the brakepedal applied, will place the ignitionsystem in ACC/ACCESSORY.The ignition will switch fromACC/ACCESSORY to OFF afterfive minutes to prevent batteryrun down.ON/RUN/START: This position isfor driving and starting. With theignition off, and the brake pedalapplied, pressing the button oncewill place the ignition system inON/RUN/START. Once enginecranking begins, release the button.Engine cranking will continue untilthe engine starts. See Starting theGasoline Engine on page 8‑18 formore information. The ignition willthen remain in ON/RUN.
