The airbags in thevehicle might not inflate in a crash,or they could even inflate without acrash. See Passenger Sensing System0 81 for important safety information.The passenger airbag status indicatoris in the overhead console.United StatesCanada and MexicoWhen the vehicle is started, thepassenger airbag status indicator willlight ON and OFF, or the symbol foron and off for several seconds as asystem check. Then, after several moreseconds, the status indicator will lighteither ON or OFF, or the on or offsymbol to let you know the status ofthe front outboard passenger frontalairbag and knee airbag.If the word ON or the on symbol is liton the passenger airbag statusindicator, it means that the frontoutboard passenger frontal airbag andknee airbag are allowed to inflate.If the word OFF or the off symbol is liton the airbag status indicator, itmeans that the passenger sensingsystem has turned off the frontoutboard passenger frontal airbag andknee airbag.If, after several seconds, both statusindicator lights remain on, or if thereare no lights at all, there may be aproblem with the lights or thepassenger sensing system.
