VEHICLE CARE 313Make sure the tire valve stem ispositioned close to the ground sothe hose will reach it.4. Remove the valve stem cap fromthe flat tire by turning itcounterclockwise.5. Attach the sealant/air hose (6)onto the tire valve stem. Turn itclockwise until it is tight.6. Plug the power plug (8) into theaccessory power outlet in thevehicle. Unplug all items fromother accessory power outlets.See Power Outlets 0 112.If the vehicle has an accessorypower outlet, do not use thecigarette lighter.If the vehicle only has a cigarettelighter, use the cigarette lighter.Do not pinch the power plugcord in the door or window.7. Start the vehicle. The vehiclemust be running while using theair compressor.8. Press and turn the selectorswitch (1) counterclockwise tothe Sealant + Air position.9. Press the on/off button (2) toturn the tire sealant andcompressor kit on.The compressor will injectsealant and air into the tire.The pressure gauge (3) willinitially show a high pressurewhile the compressor pushes thesealant into the tire. Once thesealant is completely dispersedinto the tire, the pressure willquickly drop and start to riseagain as the tire inflates withair only.10. Inflate the tire to therecommended inflation pressureusing the pressure gauge (3). Therecommended inflation pressurecan be found on the Tire andLoading Information label. SeeTire Pressure 0 296.The pressure gauge (3) may readhigher than the actual tirepressure while the compressor ison. Turn the compressor off toget an accurate pressure reading.The compressor may be turnedon/off until the correct pressureis reached.CautionIf the recommended pressurecannot be reached afterapproximately 25 minutes, thevehicle should not be driven farther.The tire is too severely damagedand the tire sealant and compressorkit cannot inflate the tire. Removethe power plug from the accessorypower outlet and unscrew theinflating hose from the tire valve.See Roadside Service 0 356.11. Press the on/off button (2) toturn the tire sealant andcompressor kit off.The tire is not sealed and willcontinue to leak air until thevehicle is driven and the sealantis distributed in the tire,therefore, Steps 12–18 must bedone immediately after Step 11.Be careful while handling the tiresealant and compressor kit as itcould be warm after usage.
