If the beltis not long enough, see Seat BeltExtender 0 74.Position the release button onthe buckle so that the seat beltcould be quickly unbuckled ifnecessary.4. To make the lap part tight, pullup on the shoulder belt.On sedan models, it may benecessary to pull stitching on theseat belt through the latch plateto fully tighten the lap belt onsmaller occupants.To unlatch the belt, push the buttonon the buckle. The belt should returnto its stowed position.Always stow the seat belt slowly. If theseat belt webbing returns quickly tothe stowed position, the retractor maylock and cannot be pulled out. If thishappens, pull the seat belt straight outfirmly to unlock the webbing, andthen release it. If the webbing is stilllocked in the retractor, see yourdealer.Before a door is closed, be sure theseat belt is out of the way. If a door isslammed against a seat belt, damagecan occur to both the seat belt andthe vehicle.Automatic Seat Belt TighteningSystemThe vehicle may have the AutomaticSeat Belt Tightening System.Each time the vehicle is started withthe front seat belts buckled, thesystem activates once to tighten theseat belts when the forward vehiclespeed exceeds the threshold foractivation.The system also activates duringemergency braking and/or suddendriving maneuvers and releases whendriving conditions return to normal.The system turns off wheneverCompetitive Driving Mode is activated,and will turn back on whenCompetitive Driving Mode isdeactivated.
