See RemoteKeyless Entry (RKE) SystemOperation 0 31.CautionCranking the engine for longperiods of time, by pressingENGINE START/STOP immediatelyafter cranking has ended, canoverheat and damage the crankingmotor, and drain the battery. Waitat least 15 seconds between eachtry, to let the cranking motorcool down.2. If the engine does not start afterfive to 10 seconds, especially invery cold weather (below −18 °Cor 0 °F), it could be flooded withtoo much gasoline. Try pushingthe accelerator pedal all the wayto the floor and holding it thereas you press ENGINE START/STOP, for up to a maximum of15 seconds. Wait at least15 seconds between each try, toallow the cranking motor to cooldown. When the engine starts,let go of the button and theaccelerator. If the vehicle startsbriefly but then stops again, dothe same thing. This clears theextra gasoline from the engine.Do not race the engineimmediately after starting it.Operate the engine andtransmission gently until the oilwarms up and lubricates allmoving parts.Stop/Start System{ WarningExiting the vehicle without firstshifting into P (Park) may cause thevehicle to move. You or others maybe injured. Because the vehicle mayhave an auto engine Stop/Startfeature, the vehicle's engine mightseem to be shut off; however, oncethe brake pedal is released, the(Continued)Warning (Continued)engine will start up again. Theengine may restart even while thebrake is applied.Shift to P (Park) and turn theignition off before exiting thevehicle.The vehicle may have a fuel savingstop/start system to shut off theengine and help conserve fuel.Auto Engine Stop/StartWhen the brakes are applied and thevehicle is at a complete stop, theengine may turn off. When stopped,the tachometer may point to AUTOSTOP. See Tachometer 0 120. Whenthe brake pedal is released or theaccelerator pedal is pressed, theengine may restart.Auto Stop may be deactivated if:. A minimum vehicle speed is notreached.. The engine or transmission is notat the required operatingtemperature.
