Each type of device has itsown “delete” command in the Installer menu.Reset the bus address on the device to zero.If a bus device is damaged and you suspect it is faulty then you can use the Installer menuto temporarily disable the device. The control unit will ignore any input from the devicewhile it is disabled, and not send any output commands to the device. When the timecomes to replace the damaged device then the Installer menu provides a “Replace”command that you can use to swap out the damaged unit for a new one, of the same type,retaining all the device information from the old unit.Note: Do not physically replace bus devices without using the Disable or Replacecommands. If you do not use these commands first you will cause a bus tamper.Bus Device AddressesThe control unit reports the addresses of bus devices as two groups of characters,separated by a “-“:An-ddA = One or more letters showing the device type: PAN=panel, K=keypad, W=WiredExpander, R=Radio Expander.n = Bus number. In an i-onEX control unit the bus number is always 1. Connectionsdirectly to the control unit do not show a bus number.dd = Bus device number. This can be any number 01 to 95.In an i-on160EX there can only be a total of 45 devicesIn an i-on50EX there can only be a total of 20 devices.In an i-on30EX there can be a total of 10 devices.Expanders always have bus device numbers in the range 01 to 45. Keypads always havebus device numbers in the range 51 to 95.Figure 3 shows an example of how the control unit in a small system might address eachdevice attached to the bus. The system has two 10-zone expanders and three keypads.Each device has one address.Figure 3. Bus Device Addressing ExampleThe EXP-R30 is a bus device that uses more than one device address. In Figure 4 thesecond expander on the bus is an EXP-R30. The EXP-R30 always takes threeconsecutive bus device numbers. In Figure 4 the control unit gives this one device thenumbers R1-02, R1-03 and R1-04. In the Installer menu the keypad display shows only“R1-02” but also adds the characters “(R30)” at the end of the line as a reminder.
