322 Programming access codesN0008589 3.3* Direct dial digit NoneThe Direct dial digit setting allows you to specify a singlesystem-wide digit to call a direct dial telephone.Remote dial-in (Also refer to “Configuring for remote access” on page 300)* Private Auto DN from a privateauto-answer trunk>Private network calls answered without DISA require no passwordto access the Business Communications Manager. The type ofservice that applies to the call depends on the restrictions assignedto the trunk.* Public Auto DN from the auto-answertrunk>Public network calls answered without DISA require no password toaccess the Business Communications Manager. The type ofservice that applies to the call depends on the restrictions assignedto the trunk.* Private DISA DN received from theauto-answer trunk>For private network calls answered with DISA, the system presentsa stuttered dial tone to prompt a caller to enter a valid password. The Class of Service (COS) that applies to the call is determined bythis COS password. After a remote user accesses the Business CommunicationsManager, they can change the existing COS password using theDISA DN. This gives you greater flexibility when you create accessprivileges. For example, you may want to have a shared DN forremote access, but separate COS passwords with different dialingout privileges for individuals.* Public DISA DN received from theauto-answer trunk>For public network calls answered with DISA, the system presents astuttered dial tone to prompt a caller to enter a valid password. TheClass of Service (COS) that applies to the call is determined by thisCOS password. After a remote user accesses the Business CommunicationsManager, they can change the existing COS using the DISA DN.This gives you greater flexibility when you create access privileges. For example, you may want to have a shared DN for remoteaccess, but separate COS passwords with different dialing outprivileges for individuals.Incoming and tandem calls (Refer also to “Defining routes” on page 333)Private accesscodeMCDN: coordinate withNational access codeThis code identifies this system to the private network. It comes in as the first digit in a dial string defined as private and isread based on the private DN length.Example: if the dialed number is 7880, and the private DN length is4, the system scans the four digits from the right, recognizing the 7as the private access code for this system.Private networking also provides access to tandem calling and toll bypass functionality to userscalling into the system. For example, a PSTN user in Toronto could call a PSTN user in Ottawa and have the call routedover the private network connection from the Toronto office to the Ottawa office and then out tothe PSTN from the Ottawa office. This bypasses any long distance toll charges.BCM to BCM to PSTN: Calls are routed as private over the private network, and then flagged aspublic to go out to the end node PSTN.Meridian to BCM to PSTN: Special call codes from the Meridian (Local, National and Specialaccess codes) need to be recognized by the BCM and correctly passed to the local PSTN.Table 56 Access codes values (Continued)
