2.2 Ratings and Specifications2.2.4 Servomotor Overload Protection Characteristics2-62.2.4 Servomotor Overload Protection CharacteristicsThe overload detection level is set for hot start conditions with a Servomotor ambient tempera-ture of 40°C.Note: The above overload protection characteristics do not mean that you can perform continuous duty operationwith an output of 100% or higher.Use the Servomotor so that the effective torque remains within the continuous duty zone given in 2.2.3Torque-Motor Speed Characteristics on page 2-5.2.2.5 Servomotor Heat Dissipation ConditionsThe Servomotor ratings are the continuous allowable values at an ambient temperature of 40°Cwhen a heat sink is installed on the Servomotor. If the Servomotor is mounted on a small devicecomponent, the Servomotor temperature may rise considerably because the surface for heatdissipation becomes smaller. Refer to the following graphs for the relation between the heatsink size and derating rate.Note: The derating rates are applicable only when the average motor speed is less than or equal to the rated motorspeed. If the average motor speed exceeds the rated motor speed, consult with your Yaskawa representa-tive.Torque reference (percent of rated torque) (%)1000010001001010 50 100 150 200 250 300SGMSL-A3CSGMSL-A5CDetection time (s)The actual temperature rise depends on how the heat sink (i.e., the Servomotor mounting sec-tion) is attached to the installation surface, what material is used for the Servomotor mountingsection, and the motor speed. Always check the Servomotor temperature with the actual equip-ment.Important10080604020 150 250200100500Heat sink size (mm)150 250200100500Heat sink size (mm)10012012080604020SGMSL-A3C SGMSL-A5CDerating rate (%)Derating rate (%)
