77-1Edition OneXC1000 ServiceSTATUS LOG7.1 OVERVIEWXC1000 software detects and monitors a variety of system-status informa-tion, such as software alarms, data-bus errors, and hard disk errors. Thestatus log includes this information. The status log is a first-in first-out,2-KB ring buffer. The CPU maintains the buffer, which is written to systemdrives zero and one during a system shutdown. If accessing the status log through an RDAC, the portremains accessed as long as the status log is displayed. This condition could allow unauthorized entry. Therefore, after viewing the status log, make sure to return theterminal to a blank screen, so a person would have toenter a password for access. This process avoids leavingthe port accessible after viewing the status log.Caution! The software in XC1000 can detect and report the status of a variety ofconditions, which are reported in the status log. Many status-log entries arefor information only and do not indicate a malfunction. Select 2 – ReviewStatus Log from menu 13 to display the status log, which includes a varietyof status entries in chronological order, starting with the oldest entry.Use the following steps for tracing a problem reported in the status log:1. Review and print the status log from menu 13, option 2.2. Review the English status-code descriptions and, if necessary, identifythe status codes in the header lines of the pertinent entries.3. Analyze the contents of the status log to determine the sequence ofevents leading to a malfunction.4. If applicable, decode the body of the status-log entry to pinpoint thelocation of the problem by using the information in this chapter.Check the status log regularly. Status-code entries can be logged even ifthere are no problems reported. Because of limited space in the status log(2 KB), the status log should be printed and cleared each week, or moreoften if needed.Use option 3 – Scroll Status Log in menu 13 to scroll through the entirestatus log for a real-time overview of conditions within XC1000. Entrieslogged are shown as they occur.
