Select theSkip the Custom Install Options and proceed with installationoption, then press the Enter key. A status message is displayedwhile the installation program installs the software.11. At the PRESS ANY KEY prompt, press any key.12. At the Press any key to continue... prompt, press any key. TheA:\> prompt reappears.13. Remove the Socket I/O installation diskette from diskette drive a:(or b:, if appropriate).14. Turn off the power to the PC.15. Remove the bottom cover panel from the right-rear side of the PC.16. Insert the PCMCIA card in the bottom slot. Make sure that thecard is seated tightly in the slot.17. Turn on the power to the PC.18. At the C:\> prompt, type startcom and press the Enter key.A message appears, indicating that the card is enabled and initial-ized as the COM2 port. The external connector on the card can nowbe used as the COM2 port for the FCP conversion.19. If the card is not recognized as the COM2 port, a message appearsstating that the card is not recognized. Turn off the power to thePC, and double-check that the PCMCIA card is tightly seated. Ifthe card is still not recognized, perform the following steps:a. Turn off the power to the PC.b. Remove the PCMCIA from the bottom slot.c. Remove the top cover panel from the right rear-side ofthe PC.d. Insert the PCMCIA card in the top slot. Make sure thatthe card is tightly seated in the slot.e. Repeat steps 17 and 18.14.4 ENABLE THE ENGINEERING BIT AND DISABLE ALLPORTSPerform the following steps to enable the engineering bit and disable all ports:Do not disable ports until after the engineering bit hasbeen turned on, as confirmed by the Octel NationalResponse Center (for national accounts) or the OctelTechnical Assistance Center (TAC).Caution!1. Call the Octel National Response Center (for national accounts) or theOctel Technical Assistance Center (TAC) to have the engineering bitturned on.
