If a problem is found, the logic cardis replaced and shipped back to the factory. However, EPROMs can bereplaced on logic cards as required for software upgrades. The followingreplacement procedures are described in this section: Replacing logic cards Replacing or adding hot-plug line and telephone interface cards Replacing EPROMs8.3.1 Replacing Logic CardsThe following logic cards used in the XC1000 can be replaced in the field: CPU card File cards Monitor card Digital line cards (DLCs) Telephone interface cards (TICs) Asynchronous Communications Processor (ACP), optionalAs of release 1.55, DLCs and TICs are hot-pluggable and can be replacedwithout shutting down the XC1000. Refer to section 8.3.2 for proceduresfor replacing hot-plug DLCs and TICs.Before replacing any logic cards, review Appendix B for the Return MaterialAuthorization (RMA) procedures. Complete the following steps whenreplacing a logic card:1. Follow the procedure in section 8.2 to take the XC1000 out of service.2. Turn the XC1000 power off by switching the main-power circuitbreaker on the power distribution shelf to the OFF position (0).3. Open the doors at the front of the cabinet.4. Wear the antistatic wrist strap located in the lower, –48 Vdc power-control slot located toward the front of the cabinet.5. Remove the original logic card from the logic bay, using the cardextractors as shown in Figure 8-1. Do not force or bend the card.6. Handle only the sheet-metal stiffener attached to the card. Do nottouch the components or the connectors. Place all removed cards inantistatic bags. Do not stack the cards on top of one another.SECTION 8.3
