99-1Edition OneXC1000 ServiceSYSTEM UTILITIES9.1 OVERVIEWThe XC1000 provides software-utility menus that are used to install,maintain, and troubleshoot the system. The system utilities are accessedfrom and displayed on the system manager terminal (SMT). The systemutilities consist of five menus, used to execute software operations, asfollows: Install options Copy options Drive test Drive read-only Terminal-type selectionThe XC1000 also provides a reformat menu, which contains utilities andconversions not included in the other system utilities. The reformat menuis accessed differently than the other utilities (refer to section 9.7).Use these utilities only when directed by service documen-tation or service engineers. Using these utilities incorrectlycan cause serious damage to data.Caution!The utilities described in this chapter could differ, depending on thesoftware release that the XC1000 is using. This version of system utilitiesreflects software Release 1.5.9.2 UTILITY MENU ACCESSThe utilities are accessed from and displayed on the SMT. The utilitiescomprise five menus, accessed from the ENTER BOOT COMMAND: prompt.Each menu displays options that are used to execute software operations.Perform the following steps to access the utilities:1. Coordinate with the system manager to take the system out of service.2. Enable the service option, as follows:a. Deactivate port monitoring in menu 2 by changing the PortMonitoring Active: field from Y to N.b. In menu 4, activate at least one port for telephone answering byentering a Y in column T.c. Call the Octel Communications Technical Assistance Center andrequest that the service option be enabled; provide the XC1000
