If the terrain/obstacle database is not available, the voice alert “TAWS System Failure” is generatedalong with the ‘TAWS FAIL’ alert annunciation.TAWS-B requires a 3-D GPS navigation solution along with specific vertical accuracy minimums. Shouldthe navigation solution become degraded or if the aircraft is out of the database coverage area, the systemdisplays the ‘TAWS N/A’ annunciation, and issues the “TAWS Not Available” voice alert. When the GPS signalintegrity returns and the aircraft is within the database coverage area, the system issues the voice alert, “TAWSAvailable” .
