Operation Manual – QoS-QoS ProfileH3C S3100 Series Ethernet Switches Chapter 2 QoS Profile Configuration2-1Chapter 2 QoS Profile ConfigurationNote:Only H3C S3100-EI series switches support this configuration.2.1 Overview2.1.1 Introduction to QoS ProfileQoS profile is a set of QoS configurations. It provides an easy way for performing andmanaging QoS configuration. A QoS profile can contain one or multiple QoS actions. Innetworks where hosts change their positions frequently, you can define QoS policies forthe specific hosts and add the QoS policies to a QoS profile. When a host is connectedto another port of a switch, you can simply apply the corresponding QoS profile to theport statically or dynamically to maintain the same QoS configuration performed for thehost.Currently, a QoS profile can contain configurations concerning packet filtering, trafficpolicing, and priority marking.2.1.2 QoS Profile Application ModeI. Dynamic application modeA QoS profile can be applied dynamically to a user or a group of users passing 802.1xauthentication. To apply QoS profiles dynamically, a user name-to-QoS profile mappingtable is required on the AAA server. For a switch operating in this mode, after a userpasses the 802.1x authentication, the switch looks up the user name-to-QoS profilemapping table for the QoS profile using the user name and then applies the QoS profilefound to the port the user is connected to.Corresponding to the 802.1x authentication modes, dynamic QoS profile applicationcan be user-based and port-based.z User-based QoS profile applicationThe switch generates a new QoS profile by adding user source MAC addressinformation to the identifying rule defined in the existing QoS profile and then appliesthe new QoS profile to the port the user is connected to.z Port-based QoS profile application
