7-28Camshaft012345678910ARemoving the timing belt, drivensprocket, and camshaftCheck the valve clearances before removingthe parts.• Do not turn the crankshaft counterclock-wise, otherwise the water pump impellermay be damaged.• Do not turn the crankshaft or the drivensprockets when the timing belt is notinstalled. Otherwise the piston andvalves, or intake and exhaust valvescould collide with each other and bedamaged.1. Remove the cylinder head cover.2. Remove the timing belt, see “Replacingthe timing belt” (7-18) step 6–step 9.3. Remove the timing belt tensioner.4. Remove the drive sprocket a, plate b,and dowel c.5. Hold the intake and exhaust camshaftsd using a wrench, and then remove thebolts e.6. Remove the driven sprockets.7. Gradually loosen the camshaft caps fand g in several stages and in thesequence numbers (a, b, · · ·).NOTICE: Do not to tilt the camshafts.8.
