7-30Camshaft012345678910A3. Measure the camshaft journal diameterc and cylinder head journal insidediameter d. Replace the camshaft,cylinder head assembly, or both if out ofspecifications.Installing the timing belt, drivensprocket, and camshaft• Do not turn the crankshaft counterclock-wise, otherwise the water pump impellermay be damaged.• Do not turn the crankshaft or the drivensprockets when the timing belt is notinstalled. Otherwise the piston andvalves, or intake and exhaust valvescould collide with each other and bedamaged.1. Make sure that the valve lifters and shimsare installed on the cylinder head. Applyengine oil to the valve shims and valvelifters before installation.2. Install the camshafts with the new oilseals a. Make sure the camshafts areinstalled to the original positions. Applysome molybdenum disulfide grease onthe cam lobes.3. Install the camshafts so that the dowelsb are facing inward and that they arealigned with the mating surface of thecylinder head.4.
