10-11MNT Maintenance5. Remove the oil filler cap a. Pull out thedipstick b and use the oil changer c toextract the oil completely.6. Add the correct amount of oil through thefiller hole. Put back the filler cap a andthe dipstick b. NOTICE: Overfilling theoil could cause leakage or damage. Ifthe oil level is above the upper levelmark, extract until the level meets thespecified capacity.7. Leave the outboard motor for 5-10minutes.8. Remove the dipstick b and wipe it clean.9. Insert the dipstick b and remove it again.Make sure to completely insert thedipstick into the dipstick guide, otherwisethe oil level measurement will beincorrect.10. Recheck the oil level using the dipstick tomake sure the level falls between theupper level mark “H” and lower levelmark “L.”11. Start the engine and make sure that thelow oil pressure alert indicator remainsoff. Also, make sure that there are no oilleaks. NOTICE: If the low oil pressurealert indicator comes on or if there areoil leaks, stop the engine and find thecause. Continued operation with aproblem could cause severe enginedamage.Replacing the oil filter1. Extract the engine oil with an oil changer.2. Place a rag under the oil filter, and thenremove the oil filter using a 72.5 mm(2.9 in) oil filter wrench a.TIP:• Wait more than 5 minutes after turning theengine off to replace the oil filter.• Make sure to clean up any oil spills.3. Apply a thin coat of engine oil to the O-ring of the new oil filter.Recommended engine oil:4-stroke motor oilAPI: SE, SF, SG, SH, SJ, or SLSAE: 5W-30, 10W-30, or 10W-40Replacement engine oil quantity(at periodic maintenance):Without oil filter replacement:4.3 L (4.54 US qt, 3.78 lmp qt)acbOil filter wrench a: 90890-06830a
