Apply the specified pressure to checkthat the pressure is maintained in thelower unit for at least 10 seconds.NOTICE: Do not over pressurize thelower unit, otherwise the oil seals maybe damaged.3. If the specified pressure cannot bemaintained, check the drive shaft,propeller shaft and shift rod oil seals fordamage. If necessary, check each shaftfor bends and damage.Installing the lower unit• Do not hold the propeller with yourhands when loosening or tightening it.• Make sure to disconnect the batterycables from the battery and the clip fromthe engine shut-off switch.• When installing the lower unit with thepower unit installed, make sure to sus-pend the outboard motor. If the outboardmotor is not suspended it can fall sud-denly and result in severe injury.1. Align a of the shift rod with the align-ment mark b.2. Set the gear shift to the N position.3. Install the dowels b into the lower unitand extension.4. Install the lower unit and extension to theupper case, and then tighten the lowercase mounting bolts c to the specifiedtorque.5.
