Calculate the new reverse gear shimthickness (T2) as same way in theexample.Calculation formula:New reverse gear shim thickness (T2) = Cur-rent reverse gear shim thickness + Shimthickness adjustmentExample:If the current reverse gear shim thickness is0.62 mm and the shim thickness adjustmentis –0.20 mm, then(T2) = 0.62 mm + (–0.20) mm= 0.62 mm – 0.20 mm= 0.42 mmTIP:• Use the least number of shims to achievethe required shim thickness.• If the calculated shim thickness cannot beobtained with a combination of the availableshims, increase the shim thickness by0.01 mm.5.
