8-20Drive shaft and lower case (regular rotation model)012345678910ATIP:Install an oil seal halfway into the drive shafthousing, and then install the other oil seal.Installing the drive shaftDo not reuse the bearing, always replaceit with a new one.1. Install the forward gear assembly.2. Install the sleeve a, drive shaft b, thrustbearing c, and original shim(s) (T3) d.3. Install the pinion and pinion nuttemporarily.TIP:When installing the pinion, lift up the driveshaft slightly and align the pinion and shaftsplines.4. Install a new O-ring e to the drive shafthousing f, and then install the driveshaft housing f into the lower case.TIP:Install the drive shaft housing with the cutouta in the housing facing forward.5. Tighten the pinion nut to the specifiedtorque.6. Check that the drive shaft rotatessmoothly. If the drive shaft does notrotate smoothly, reassemble the lowerunit.Installing the propeller shaft housingassembly1. Set the shift rod joint a and dog clutchb to the N position.2. Install the washer c and propeller shaftassembly d into the propeller shafthousing assembly e.3.
