See “Checkingthe hydraulic pressure” (9-34).Checking the PTT operation1. Tilt the outboard motor to the fully up andfully down positions a few times andcheck the entire trim range for smoothoperation. Check the PTT fluid level if thetilt operation is not smooth.TIP:Make sure to listen to the winding sound ofthe PTT motor for smooth operation.2. Tilt the outboard motor to the fully upposition, and then support it with the tiltstop lever a to check the lockmechanism of the lever.Checking the propeller1. Check the propeller blades and splines.Replace the propeller if cracked, dam-aged, or worn.Checking the spark plug1. Disconnect the spark plug wire, and thenremove the spark plug.2. Clean the electrode a with a spark plugcleaner or wire brush.3. Check the spark plug. Replace if theelectrodes are eroded, there is excessivecarbon or other deposits, or the gasket isdamaged.4.
