10-5MNT MaintenanceChecking the engine oil level1. Put the outboard motor in an uprightposition (not tilted). NOTICE: If themotor is not level, the oil level indi-cated on the dipstick may not be accu-rate.2. Start the engine. Warm it up and keepthe idle speed for 5–10 minutes.3. Stop the engine and leave it for 5–10minutes.4. Remove the top cowling.5. Remove oil dipstick and wipe it clean.6. Insert the dipstick completely foraccurate measurement and remove itagain.7. Check the oil level using the dipstick tomake sure the level falls at the centerbetween the upper level mark a “H” andlower level mark b “L.” Fill with oil if it isbelow the lower level mark b “L,” orextract to the center level if it is above theupper level mark a “H.”Checking the engine start switch andengine shut-off switch1. Check that the engine starts when theengine start switch is turned to “START.”2. Check that the engine turns off when theengine start switch is turned to “OFF.”3. Check that the engine turns off when theclip is pulled from the engine shut-offswitch.Checking the fuel system1. Check that the fuel hoses are securelyconnected and that the fuel tank is fullwith fuel. NOTICE: This is a 4-strokeengine. Never use premixed fuel or 2-stroke outboard motor oil.baOFF STARTON
