Operation Manual – MulticastH3C S7500 Series Ethernet Switches Chapter 6 IGMP Configuration6-116.2.4 Configuring Router Ports to Join the Specified Multicast GroupGenerally, the host running IGMP will respond to the IGMP query messages of themulticast switch. If the host cannot respond for some reasons, the multicast switch maythink that there is no members of the multicast group in this network segment and thenremove the corresponding paths. In order to avoid such cases, you must configure a port of the VLAN interface of theswitch as a router port to add it to the multicast group. When the port receives IGMPquery messages, the multicast switch will respond to it. As a result, the networksegment that the Layer 3 interfaces reside can continue to receive multicast packets.Follow these steps to configure router ports to join the specified multicast group:To do... Configure IGMP ProxyYou can configure IGMP proxy to reduce the workload of configuration andmanagement of leaf networks without affecting the multicast connections of the leafnetwork.
