1-11IntroductionSupported RAID LevelsHostRAID includes a BIOS Configuration Utility for boosting diskperformance and data protection. Adaptec SCSI Card supports thefollowing RAID levels: RAID 0, Striping—Two or more drives that can read and writedata in parallel. Offers higher performance than a single drive, but no fault tolerance. RAID 0 arrays do not store redundantdata; if any disk in the array fails, all data is lost. RAID 1, Mirroring—Data is mirrored on one pair of disksproviding 100 percent redundancy. Offers complete faulttolerance. If one disk fails, data is still available. Increases readperformance through load balancing. Adaptec recommendsusing the same size disks, but if you use a disk with less diskspace, the actual data capacity of the array equals the smallercapacity disk. RAID 10, Mirrored Striping—It is a striped array whosemembers are mirrored arrays. RAID 10 provides both highperformance and fault tolerance.
