2-9Using the Adaptec SCSI Card and SCSI DevicesAdaptec SCSI Card 29320ALPTo manually terminate the channel on the Adaptec SCSI card29320ALP, place a shunt on jumper J1. The following figure showswhere the jumper is located on the Adaptec SCSI card 29320ALP.Note: If you manually terminate the SCSI card with jumpers, you will override the SCSISelect setting. Making changes inSCSISelect will have no effect on termination when thesejumpers are installed. You might want to manually terminate the SCSI card if an AdaptecSCSI Card is connected to one or more external SCSI devices thatare also connected to a SCSI card in another computer. The devicescan be shared between the two computers if one SCSI card isterminated when it is powered off, while the computer with theother SCSI card is using the SCSI devices.Connecting SCSI DevicesHere are some examples of how you can connect internal andexternal SCSI devices to an Adaptec SCSI Card. Attach the firstdevice to the end connector of the cable (furthest from the SCSIcard); attach other devices to the connectors that are closer to theSCSI card.J1
