4 Description files for CANopenGateway XN-312-GW-CAN 06/16 MN050003-EN www.eaton.eu 494 Description files for CANopenThe gateway XN-312-GW-CAN is integrated into the CANopen structure withthe aid of a standardizes EDS file (Electronic Data Sheet).This EDS file lists all objects with the associated sub-indexes and the corre-sponding entries.Figure 28: Header of an EDS file for XN-312-GW-CANIn order to be able to run the gateway on a CANopen field bus, the SWDgateway's properties must be stored in a description file. This file followsspecific standards for the corresponding field bus and can be loaded into thePLC programming environment for the field bus master being used.The EDS file contains all the properties of a gateway in its role as a field busmodule.This means that new EDS file versions need to be created whenever new I/Oslice modules are released.Make sure that you are working with the latest version of the standard EDSfiles in your PLC programming environment. Check whether there are avail-able updates for the files at our Download Center ￫ Page 11.￫ It might be necessary to use a newer version of the EDS file inorder to be able to use new XN300 slice modules.
