2.3.6 Analog modulesThe following analog modules are available on this device:Table 2-7. Analog modulesModule Description16-bit analog-to-digital converters (ADC)and programmable-gain amplifiers(PGA)16-bit successive-approximation ADC designed with integrated programmablegain amplifiers (PGA)Analog comparators Compares two analog input voltages across the full range of the supply voltage.6-bit digital-to-analog converters (DAC) 64-tap resistor ladder network which provides a selectable voltage reference forapplications where voltage reference is needed.12-bit digital-to-analog converters (DAC) Low-power general-purpose DAC, whose output can be placed on an external pinor set as one of the inputs to the analog comparator, op-amps, or ADC.Voltage reference (VREF) Supplies an accurate voltage output that is trimmable in 0.5 mV steps. The VREFcan be used in medical applications, such as glucose meters, to provide areference voltage to biosensors or as a reference to analog peripherals, such asthe ADC, DAC, or CMP.Operational amplifier (Op-amp) The op-amp is a low-input offset voltage, low-input offset, and bias currentamplifier that is designed for low-voltage, low-power operation over an inputvoltage range of 0 to supply. The amplifier supports inverting, non-inverting, buffer, and general-purpose modes.Trans-impedance amplifier (TRIAMP) The trans-impedance amplifier conditions the current input into voltages that canbe read by the ADC or analog comparator.2.3.7 Timer modulesThe following timer modules are available on this device:Table 2-8. Timer modulesModule DescriptionProgrammable delay block (PDB) • 16-bit resolution• 3-bit prescaler• Positive transition of trigger event signal initiates the counter• Supports two triggered delay output signals, each with an independently-controlled delay from the trigger event• Outputs can be OR'd together to schedule two conversions from one inputtrigger event and can schedule precise edge placement for a pulsed output. This feature is used to generate the control signal for the CMP windowingfeature and output to a package pin if needed for applications, such ascritical conductive mode power factor correction.• Continuous-pulse output or single-shot mode supported, each output isindependently enabled, with possible trigger events• Supports bypass mode• Supports DMATable continues on the next page...Module Functional CategoriesK51 Sub-Family Reference Manual, Rev. 6, Nov 201160 Freescale Semiconductor, Inc.
