Switch Management Commands 1990Power Over Ethernet CommandsThe Dell EMC Networking PoE solution implements the PoE+ specification(IEEE 802.3at) for power sourcing equipment (PSE). IEEE 802.3at allowspower to be supplied to Class 4 PD devices that require power up to 34.2Watts. This allows the PoE+ enabled network switches and routers to be usedfor deployment with devices that require more power than the 802.3AFspecification allows. PoE+ 802.3at is compatible with 802.3AF.The Dell EMC Networking N3024P/N3048P switches support delivery of upto 62W of power on the first 12 interfaces of each stack unit. The Dell EMCNetworking N2128PX-ON supports PoE 60W on the four 2.5G interfaces. The Dell EMC Networking N3132PX-ON supports PoE 60W on all copperports.NOTE: This section applies to the N1108P-ON/N1124P-ON/N1148P-ON/N1524P/N1548P/N2024P/N2048P/N2128PX-ON/N3024P/N3048P/N3132PX-ONswitches.Flexible Power ManagementThe Dell EMC Networking PoE solution provides power management whichsupports power reservation, power prioritization and power limiting. Theoperator can assign a priority to each PoE port. When the power budget ofthe PoE switch has been exhausted, the higher priority ports are givenpreference over the lower priority ports. Lower priority ports are forciblystopped to supply power in order to provide power to higher priority ports. The static power management feature allows operators to reserve aguaranteed amount of power for a PoE port. This is useful for powering updevices which draw variable amounts of power and provide them an assuredpower range within which to operate. Class based power managementallocates power at class limits as opposed to user defined limits. In the Dynamic Power management feature, power is not reserved for a givenport at any point of time. The power available with the PoE switch iscalculated by subtracting the instantaneous power drawn by all the ports fromthe maximum available power. Thus, more ports can be powered at the sametime. This feature is useful to efficiently power up more devices when theavailable power with the PoE switch is limited.
