USER’S GUIDE264 CyberSWITCHU SING M ANAGE M ODE C OMMANDSipxrouteDisplays the current IPX routes (both statically entered and "learned").ipxroute [add/change/delete]Allows you to add/change/delete an IPX route.IPX S TATIC ROUTES CONFIGURATION E LEMENTSD ESTINATION N ETWORKThe IPX network number reachable through this static route entry. This parameter is a hexadecimalvalue from 1 to 4 bytes in length.N EXT HOPThe device name or IPX Network address of the next hop device that provides access to thedestination IPX network. If a name is specified, it can be either a on-node device database name ora name configured in an off node authentication server data base. The name must be a valid Devicetable entry if the system is configured for on-node device table data base authentication. The nameis not validated if the system is configured for off-node server authentication. You may specify theIPX Network address of the next hop device for routes accessed via a LAN or a WAN Remote LANnetwork interface. The IPX network address is specified as a 4 byte hexadecimal IPX networknumber and a 6 byte hexadecimal node address. The two values are separated by a “:”, coloncharacter.NUMBER OF HOPSIndicates the number of routers that are traversed in order to reach the destination IPX network. This number is used to calculate the best route to the destination IPX network when multiple routesexists. This parameter is a decimal value from 1 to 15.NUMBER OF TICKSIndicates the time, in ticks, that a packet will take to reach the destination IPX network. A tick isapproximately 1/18th of a second. This number is used to calculate the best route to the destinationIPX network when multiple routes exists. This parameter is a decimal value from 1 to 15.RIP PROPAGATIONIndicates how the system will advertise the IPX route defined by this static route entry. If youchoose “Do not Propagate”, the system will not advertise this route table entry at any time. If youchoose “Always Propagate”, the system will advertise this route table entry as part of the normalrouting table advertisement protocol processing. If you choose “Propagate only when the NextHop is connected”, the system will only advertise this route table entry if the destination networkis reachable over the WAN and the next hop device is actively connected to the system.IPX S TATIC ROUTES BACKGROUND I NFORMATIONYou may configure static routing entries to access WAN networks that are not directly connectedto the system, or to access a LAN network through a router that does not support RIP. IPX staticroutes specify the IPX network number of the next hop device that provides access to thedestination IPX network. The IPX static route is used with the IPX NetWare Static Servicesconfiguration to provide a route to servers.
