USER’S GUIDE338 CyberSWITCHV ERIFYING A D EDICATED CONNECTIONTo verify a dedicated connection to the CyberSWITCH, the WAN lines that are connected to thesystem must be available for use, and the routing option must be properly initialized.To verify that you have a dedicated connection:1. View the system messages by entering the following console command:dr 2. Look for the following system message among the displayed messages:Layer 1 sync not seen - Slot= Port= Ces=endpoint suffix>If the above message appears, a physical problem has been detected on the indicated line.Check for a proper connection to the CyberSWITCH and to the NT1 or CIU. If the NT1 or CIUappears to be functioning properly, call your carrier service and report the problem.If the above message does not appear in the displayed messages, proceed to the next step.3. Look for the following system message among the displayed messages:Dedicated connection to device name> up: Slot=,Port= #>If the above message is displayed, the dedicated connection is functioning.If the following message appears, the dedicated connection is not functioning.Dedicated connection down: Slot=, Port= #>Refer to Remote Device Connectivity in the Problem Diagnosis chapter. Because all remote devicesthat use dedicated connections are PPP devices, follow the described set-up procedure, thenskip to the step specific for PPP devices.V ERIFYING A F RAME R ELAY CONNECTIONTo verify a frame relay connection to the CyberSWITCH, the WAN lines that are connected to theSystem must be available for use, and the routing option must be properly initialized. To verify aconnection, the a remote device must have a connection established.Enter theframe relay stats command at the administration console. If the statistics displayappears, the frame relay subsystem should be operational. If the following message is displayed,frame relay is not configured:No Frame Relay Accesses configuredEnter thecs command at the administration console. The device name for the associated PVCshould appear in the list of connected sites.If you receive the above message, or if the device name for the associated PVC does not appear inthe list of connected sites, then refer to Frame Relay Connections of the Problem Diagnosis chapter.
