Select Global Triggered RIP/SAP Timers. A menu similar to the following will be displayed:3. Select the option you want to adjust.4. Enter the new value.CONFIGURATION ELEMENTSD ATAB ASE TIMERThis timer starts when an update response is received. While this timer is running, the routeslearned from this router are still considered reachable, and advertised as such on other interfaces.When this timer expires, the routes are considered unreachable and advertised as such until thehold-down timer expires. Valid range for timer: 1 to 10,000 seconds; default: 180 seconds.H OLD -D OWN T IMERWhile this timer is running, unreachable routes are advertised on other interfaces. This timer startswhen:• the database timer for the route expires• a formerly reachable route changes to unreachable in an incoming response• a WAN circuit goes downWhen this timer expires, and the unreachability information is communicated to all the reachableWAN routers, this route is deleted. Valid range for timer: 1 to 10,000 seconds; default: 120 seconds.RETRANSMISSION TIMERThis timer starts when an update request (or response) packet is sent out. If acknowledgment is notreceived by the time this timer expires, the packet is retransmitted. Valid range for timer: 1 to 10,000seconds; default: 5 seconds.MAXIMUM RETRANSMISSIONSThis provides a limit on the number of retransmission attempts for an update request (or response)packet. Maximum number supported: 10.POLLING TIMERThis is the frequency (in minutes) in which the next-hop WAN router is polled with updaterequests, once the maximum retransmission count threshold is exceeded. Polling takes place onlywhen there is a physical connection; polling does not initiate its own connection.
